Record destination, weight, dimensions and item attributes used. Identify estimated values.
If the result changes, compare inputs before changing the basket. Use identical parcel assumptions when comparing routes. Replace planning figures with the applicable parcel amount when available, preserving the earlier result to explain the difference.
Keep enough inputs to repeat the comparison
Save the destination, parcel contents, measured weight, dimensions, service name, currency and reading date alongside a calculator result. Where measurements are not yet known, label them as assumptions. Do not later describe an assumed box as the parcel that was actually packed.
Compare alternatives one change at a time. If the aim is to understand packaging, keep the contents and service constant where possible and record the revised measurements. If a different service is selected as well, the difference cannot be attributed to packing alone. Likewise, a lower displayed price is not a complete comparison when item acceptance or delivery conditions differ.
Check the chargeable quantity
Measured mass and pricing weight may differ under the selected service's own rule. Do not insert a dimensional divisor remembered from another route. Read the applicable units, rounding and minimums, then retain that explanation with the result.
